{"id":3303,"date":"2023-11-02T15:44:47","date_gmt":"2023-11-02T19:44:47","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/gemhealthcare.com\/?p=3303"},"modified":"2024-05-29T18:44:17","modified_gmt":"2024-05-29T22:44:17","slug":"how-gem-is-making-it-easier-to-get-vaccinated","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/gemhealthcare.com\/index.php\/2023\/11\/02\/how-gem-is-making-it-easier-to-get-vaccinated\/","title":{"rendered":"How GEM is making it easier to get vaccinated"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size\"><strong>While there are many options for getting vaccinated in Ottawa this winter, they often take your employees away from work.\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size\">That\u2019s why GEM Health Care\u2019s Gaye Moffett wants to make it more convenient for people who want to get vaccinated to get their flu shot and COVID booster.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size\">She\u2019s doing that by offering employers the option to set up a vaccine clinic at their place of work.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size\">\u201cEmployers can book us for a Workplace Wellness Clinic,\u201d said Moffett. \u201cWe\u2019re approved to administer the flu shot and the COVID vaccine, so it\u2019s a <a href=\"https:\/\/ottawacitizen.com\/news\/local-news\/ontario-residents-can-get-covid-and-flu-shots-the-same-day?utm_source=Sailthru&amp;utm_medium=email&amp;utm_campaign=Ottawa%20Citizen%20Headline%20News%20-%20Weekdays%202023-10-31&amp;utm_term=OC_HeadlineNews\">one-stop shop<\/a>.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size\">Employees who want to get vaccinated won\u2019t need to wade through online forms to set up appointments during work hours, commute to an outpatient clinic and face possible delays.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size\">And employers can feel confident that they\u2019re providing a service to help keep their operations running smoothly by preventing absenteeism due to illness or illness of a loved one. They\u2019ll also be creating a place customers and clients feel safe visiting.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size\"><strong>How it works<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size\">The process will run the same as any other clinic.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size\">GEM\u2019s nurses will first conduct an assessment to ask about risks, like contraindications, to ensure it\u2019s safe to administer the vaccine.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size\">\u201cThe nurse goes through a health assessment, makes sure there\u2019s a signed consent form, said Moffett. \u201cThen we provide proof of vaccination.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size\">While the vaccines are provided at no cost by the Ontario government, employers will need to pay for the nurses\u2019 time as well as supplies like needles, bandages and cotton swabs.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size\">The COVID vaccine GEM\u2019s team will be administering is the Omicron <a href=\"https:\/\/asm.org\/Articles\/2023\/October\/Updated-COVID-19-Booster-XBB15-What-to-Know\">XBB.1.5 strain <\/a>vaccine from <a href=\"https:\/\/www.pfizerbiontechvaccine.ca\/?cmp=bb8cef1a-b9c9-47ec-9484-c40c2fc845d0&amp;ttype=PS&amp;gclid=CjwKCAjwkY2qBhBDEiwAoQXK5QgMcG5-8mETQGiC8ldXKWQUdd_ltqlhTOIXmQApZoPEvyrNA9DZrxoC8B8QAvD_BwE\">Pfizer<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size\">\u201cWe&#8217;ve got all levels of dosage: children over 12 years of age, adults and seniors,\u201d said Moffett<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size\">GEM follows the same laws and privacy standards as any other clinic, so employees can be assured that their health information is kept confidential.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size\">\u201cAs a health provider, we keep everything confidential,\u201d said Moffet. \u201cNo information is shared with the workplace.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size\">Interested?
